Whether you're searching for a job for the first time or are slowly working your way back into the workforce, finding a job may seem like a huge task, especially with the current employment trend as it is. Finding a job can be a lot of fun, in spite of the stress involved. Here are some tips on finding a job:
- Know your skills and interests and look for jobs that coincide with these
- Know what type of salary you're expecting to receive. When asked this question, don't say you'll accept any salary but don’t give an outrageous amount.
- Look in the want ads in your local paper as well as on the internet or local job service
- Update your resume. If you don't have a resume, get one made. Many employers do still look at them.
- Contact companies that you're interested in so they know of your interest.
- Know what shift you're available to work. If they ask you if you can work nights or weekends, don't answer "unless" this really is the case.
- If you are called in for an interview, sell them on the idea that you will be an asset to their company. Don't give off the impression they are doing you a favor by hiring you.
